#12 JA(NEW)ARY
January has been filled with amazing things so far. Not only has it given me some brand new experiences, but also a fresh start to the new year. Some highlights of this month are starting my new job and recently coming back from a weekend at Philly! Because I haven't blogged since I came back from Cali, I will have to catch this post up to speed with all the new and exciting things that I've been up to lately!
First things first, I'm more than blessed to have started this month with the sweetest guy I know. We've been together for a little over a month now (hehe)! We entered the new year at a sports bar in the Upper East Side with some friends, and then spent the next day cooking up a concoction called Spinach Artichoke Dip.

The following week, my sister and I went to see our little brother perform at one of his school musicals called SING. If you went to one of the Brooklyn high schools, you'd most likely know what it is. Anyway, we were just so proud of him! He played one of the leading characters and sang and danced. Seeing how much fun my brother had doing this made me regret not joining SING when I was in hs! (That's my brother in the orange shirt on the left)

NOW FOR THE JUICY UPDATES!!
Last week, my boyfriend and I went on our first mini road trip to Philly. We stayed at an interesting Airbnb for the night - the description should have said "Luxurious crack house." I'm convinced it was a crack house because the hallways of the apartment felt really cold, and we were literally on top of a pub. However, the actual space we stayed in was pretty nice.

Our very first stop was the Magical Gardens! I think this was really mainly the reason why we took the trip up to Philly (haha). Luckily we got there before it started snowing/raining or what not, but even when it started snowing it just made everything look 10x more beautiful!

One of our next stops was getting a Philly cheese steak at this place called Jims. I'm not usually a fan of dank burgers/sandwhiches, but this one was bomb. We just got a simple one because we wanted to save our stomachs for dinner, and good thing we did because look at that pasta dish I got below! It was huge!! And I did not appreciate not being warned about this beforehand. I could've shared that with someone.

Before dinner that night, we went to explore the Winter Village where it's pretty much like Bryant Park's winter village, but in Philly. We saw some people roasting marshmallows by fires, so we went ahead and bought ourselves some marshmallows to roast. The marshmallows were super sweet so we ended up just eating one each out of the four... and then he inspired me to burn my stick with the fire. #pyromaniacs

The next day, we went to the Terminal Market, where we got some dank ice cream and left with a long craving of donuts. As you can tell (below), I LOVE exploring markets and checking out hidden dainty things. The line for the donuts was SO long... it looked like we would have had to wait for about an hour.. and there were plenty of other things we wanted to see before heading back home. Even til this day, I am still wondering about those donuts :'(

Eventually, we explored the touristy spots and goofed around taking pictures with statues. I know these statues are up to represent great and honorable people.. but sometimes you just can't help yourself, you know?

ONE WEEK LATER
So this weekend, my boyfriend and I went to see the movie SING along with going to the Museum of Food and Drink. We first discovered this museum through one of our friend's snapchat stories... but then I saw this mentioned in this week's TimeOut magazine and told him that I really wanted us to check it out... so we did. I never knew this much about Chinese history until I went here. Despite the fees, I would recommend everyone to go - there's so much to do in such little space. We stayed there for about two hours... also because I just like making most of my time at museums (why not, right?).

This picture above is of one of the original Chinese take out menus from a restaurant in New York back in the year 1940. Look at how much Chow Mein used to cost though... 40 cents! Besides that though, we got to see how they make fortune cookies and even try a sample of food!

So... that sums up my month of January so far! Next week is Chinese New Year... so I think I actually visited the MOFAD at a perfect time while they have the Chinese food exhibit. Looking forward to the rest of this month and February!
